Liverpool have locked up one member of their “fab three” for a very long time, as the club announced a new long term extension for Roberto Firmino on Sunday. The Brazilian forward, who has 27 goals across all competitions this season, will be under contract until 2023.
Firmino has combined with PFA Player of the Year Mo Salah and winger Sadio Mane to form an extremely impressive attacking trio that has led the Reds to a top four slot and the brink of a Champions League final berth. He’s scored 50 times in 140 appearances in Liverpool shirt.
“It was an easy decision,” the 26-year-old who arrived in the summer of 2015 from Hoffenheim told the club’s official website.
“The club have taken me in in an incredible way and I’ve grown a lot here with my work with the support of the whole team. I am very, very happy here.
“Everything fits in the best possible way. My teammates are fantastic and I am very grateful to be able to play with them at this club.
“I love to play for Liverpool FC. The fans are excellent and fantastic in how they support us all the way. They support us throughout the games and the work they do during the match is beautiful.”
