It continues to be a very exciting summer at Manchester United, with plenty of topics to discuss. While we still have a bit of time until the preseason exhibition games begin, there is no shortage of topics to discuss today.

-United may have suffered another setback in their pursuit of Gareth Bale, and this summer transfer window could end up just like previous windows, with the chase for Bale ending in futility. Sports Illustrated writes that the Welshman is likely to stay at Real Madrid, as media outlets try to analyze what the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo could mean for his future.
Bale is still set for talks with Real Madrid leadership, including new manager Julen Lopetegui, about his future with the club according to his agent.
“AS reports that Lopetegui is a fan of Bale, and the Welshman’s prospects have improved further with the news of Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus,” SI writes.
Perhaps Ronaldo’s exit now provides Bale with the opportunity to step up and be the alpha at Real, and it’s a chance he doesn’t want to pass up.
-Today brought the official start to United’s training camp, as the team will fly to the United States of America on Sunday to commence their preseason exhibition tour.
Luke Shaw was frozen out last season, but the English left back is determined to fight for his place in the team this season. He looks like he’s in top shape right now and possessing elite fitness. The Daily Express has photos at this link.
Alexis Sanchez showed up in his black Bentley, and the Daily Star has a lot of photos of the Chilean’s arrival.
The Star also lists out who was on hand at the Carrington training ground today, who is on holiday after tours of international duty in the World Cup and also which players won’t be joining the team for awhile yet as their countries have made deep runs in this tournament.
