The January transfer window will be open sooner rather than later, so it’s time to talk Manchester United transfer rumors. Let’s dive right in with Brazilian star Malcolm, who was previously targeted by Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mail “Jose Mourinho sent his scouts to follow the 20-year-old’s progress last season and are weighing-up a move for the youngster in the January transfer window.”
Both the Mail and the Sun claim Malcolm will be the subject of a £30 million bid.
With The Sun adding that Old Trafford have a “whopping £80m kitty in January in order to make a second-half of the season push.”
Malcolm might be a very hot commodity this transfer window.
Speaking of Mourinho, he did discuss the club’s transfer window strategy in January during his weekly news conference this past Friday.
Next we move on to attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has been left out of seven of the last eight matchday squads and thus linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Rumors continue to swirl about United picking up a new winger to replace him. Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale are the two names that continue to resurface. There are also plenty of transfer rumors linking Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Chelsea’s Willian to the mix in a future United midfield. Mourinho did nothing to squelch the Mkhitaryan departure rumors last week, as he explained why he currently has no room for the Armenian.
He’s been linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund, the club which sold him to United in summer 2016 for £27 million. The Daily Mail claims that United are setting an asking price of £35 million for him now.
Meanwhile WhoScored reports that: “Inter have already registered an interest in Mkhitaryan but Financial Fair Play pressures may ruin their hopes for a January move.”
Finally, the Daily Mirror writes that United: “have been given the green light to make a £60m January move for Alex Sandro.” He’s Brazilian, and therefore his asking price in the transfer market has to be sky high. If United are truly serious about pursuing the left back, then that is the clearest signal yet that Luke Shaw is on his way out, and it’s also a red alert to Matteo Darmian.
The Mirror adds that “Juventus turned down a £65m offer from Chelsea in the summer and Antonio Conte is still keen on the Brazil international.”
