There is a ton of drama surrounding Paul Pogba right now at Manchester United. It’s obvious that there’s at least some level of tension right now between he and manager Jose Mourinho, even though the United boss was very loud in deriding stories of a rift between two as “big lies.”
Pogba has been linked with a move away from the club, a narrative that again Mourinho denies. The midfielder missed United’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday, due to a mysterious, undisclosed illness. After the match, Mourinho said that he wasn’t sure if Pogba would be ready to go for the UEFA Champions League clash at Sevilla Wednesday night.
United really need the Frenchman, as they will be missing several key players for the away leg of the knockout round tie.
Although it is not confirmed that Pogba will be back in time, things looks pretty good right now. The Frenchman returned to training on Sunday, and there are reports of United being hopeful Pogba will be back in action. Following the Champions League clash is another huge contest- Chelsea in league action over the weekend, with second place at stake.
United need Pogba and they need him to be at his best for the critical stretch coming up. Also, Pogba needs to figure out how to coexist with Mourinho and vice versa. Both men need each other in order for the Red Devils to go as far as they can this season.
